As the original question came from some one located in CA this will not be of much help, but the experience I had buying a Bring a Trailer 928 (from a Rennlist member) was as smooth as could be. My payment reached him in three days, he expedited the title, I arranged shipping and the car arrived about two weeks after payment. I had a bill of sale for approximately the auction amount ( ), but when I got to the Georgia DMV they didn't car about any of that:

GA DMV: Ah, 1986.5, well you don't need an emissions test of any kind and we don't need to see the high flow cats or the rear muffler delete or the bill of sale.

GA DMV: Your insurance info looks good.

Me: I am registering three other cars and my wife would like sequential plate numbers.

GA DMV: Sure, no problem. You'll save money by not renewing those two special plates you have.

Me: Uh, so what is this new/old Porsche going to cost me today?

GA DMV: First, what color is it?

Me: Well the Utah title says red, so let's go with that.

GA DMV: Fine: (adding machine noises) That will be $47.

Me: Seriously, just $47?

GA DMV: Yes sir. Y'all have a good afternoon!

Appreciate all the input guys!

While I'm at it, any recommendations on a car transport company, and ones to avoid?

Thanks.

Intercity Lines - a rennlist sponsor - used them twice and they are very good, cover the car, don't use brokers but their own trucks and drivers. you also get a rennlist discount if you ask for it. Also Reliable is top of the line too. Generally, avoid brokers. There are occasional exceptions, but I would not use a broker.

Gonna guess it's the Bentley he posted in the "Your next car" thread.

As far as shipping goes, the high-end, enclosed carriers are good. Intercity, Passport, Reliable, Horseless Carriage, PlyCar. They use race car transporters and routinely move seriously high dollar cars around.

Price is on par with the service. But, for a FL to SoCal trip, they should run that lane a lot. So lots of options and no extra mileage charges.

Joe is correct. Should arrive in a couple days.

The GTS is listed on AutoTrader.
