Lightbulb 84' 928 auto transmission removal/installation

ok,kind of new to this forum(im on the 944/951 forums),but how hard is it to remove the transmission off of a 1984 928?just wated to know if my father and i could do this and save some $$$ on labor costs.its been sitting for a while, like a month, the transmission went dead like a month and a half ago.before that the 4th gear was missing(like a year ago).when we bought the car, the PO gave us this extra tranny, but was unaware of the condition.so any help would be appreciated.thanx

It can be done. I did it my self. My dad then helped me with the install gettting things lined up..pushing the tranny back on the drive shaft.. Clink my link below and look for Torque Tube replacement under "Non routine maintenance"

it is just time consuming, I wouldnt say hard, although after wards before running the engine at all make sure you check the pinch bolt

Lizard is correct. It is time consuming. I am at the tail end of one but if you start and stay at it with more work and less staring you should have it done over a weekend. Take heed to the workshop manuel instructions as they are very good.
