Default Exhaust Sound

Hey gang,

I'm trying to get my 89's exhaust note to sound like my old 87's note. I had an X-pipe and RMB on the 87. When I put the same setup on the 89, the sound was VERY LOUD. Mustang loud for no reason and not going anywhere loud. I think the 89 has Magna Flow resonators. This may be causing the extremely loud sound with the RMB. What specifically is the difference between the 89 & 87 resonators? If I were to go to a muffler shop, what would I ask for (in terms of resonators) to perform the same as the 87 resonators?

Do anyone have 87 resonators for sale in the Maryland, Virginia, DC area?

Thanks for your time.

This is because the 89 resonators are much smaller than 87. You can do what Stan suggests, or if you want to keep the RMB, get some used mid section pipes from 87 or 88. That's what I did.

EDIT: I see you said you think you have Magnaflow resonators. Hmm...that would be odd. Whatever, replacing the mid section pipes will resolve the issue. No need to go to a muffler shop.
