Your car will run poorly with a bad ballast resistor... but will run. (You can actually run the car without the ballast resistors, but you risk burning out the coil). In any event, do the ohm test across the resistors. Or, while the car is running touch the resistors. If one of them is so hot that it literally melts your skin--it is bad. Ask me how I know. If while running the resistors are warm, but not surface-of-the-Sun hot, I doubt they are bad.
I apologize, I have not read your earlier threads, but have you gone through all the ignition related preventative maintenance and testing?

ok....help me understand the physics of how driving a vehicle with low compression will restore compression, other than temporarily due to temperature change. i'm assuming it has to be related to valve seating, which could possibly be better after running a few oil changes and possibly a little help with engine flush?

Brittle rings with gunky oil around them running in oxidized and glazed bores. Some rings will stick over time, and when run up to temp and driven for a while, the rings will expand, and the bores will be burnished improving comp. Also some of the lifters which have been uncompressed will expand and contract a bit more as hot oil is run through, so that the valve will close more timely, and more fully.

ok, I would say that sounds reasonable Doc. Coming from a background of mostly 60s and 70s musclecars , I,ll assume this would be attributed to the Porsche motor using better metals and much tighter clearances than what the older musclecars were using. Back then, when you were getting up around 80-100 thousand miles those motors were pretty much used up and crap compression was only fixed with a rebuild.Better metals and tighter clearances can make a difference. Interesting indeed.

D.... nothing has happened as of yet! Winter has decided to kick in early and the roads are full of salt. I need to replace my master cylinder so I,m using the down time to take care of that. Also getting ready to reupholster the interior, some of the leather is rough but thats in my wheelhouse. I knew I was racing the weather and was hoping to get a few miles on it beforehand. For Now...... I,ll do the master cylinder and wait for a warm spell.
