Default Need help identifying wires

1989 S4

Known issues: Starts in all gears, no back up lights(fuse good), parking brake light does not work(not the bulb)

Some previous mechanic messed with the wiring in a way I cannot fathom.

Blue and blue/Black wire disconnected an taped off. Looks like there's a missing connector.

And disconnected ground with what appears to be a ground wire cut from the connector itself.

The mystery deepens.

I looked at another 89 I have and those wires do not exit that car's loom.

I've accounted for all the wires in the spare tire well.

The wire ends look like what is inside the barrel connectors.

Here's a picture showing the connector with the blue and blue/black wires in a 90+ 5 speed. It would appear somebody needed the connector housing.

Why are they on one 89S4 (both are automatics) and not on another? Inquiring minds would like know.
