Default 85 928s window not working

My passenger door window stopped working with the window down. The driver's door window works, including after the ignition is turned off. After looking through various posts, I believe I'm at the stage of removing the window motor to inspect and clean, and I have removed the door panel. With the window down, I can't get enough room to get at the motor and regulator. How does the window disconnect so I can move it up and out of the way? Also, if there is any helpful detail around removing the motor, I would appreciate any information.

Thank you!

I presume you have ruled out a power supply issue to the window motor and that a separate power source applied directly to the motor isn't working the glass in any direction? Remove the hardware from the glass to the regulator and the nylon guide. Then, you will probably need to loosen the guide tube and regulator hardware to buy enough room to either pull the glass, or tape it to the top of the door frame.

Mine wasn't working and it turned out to be the switch. The old switch worked intermittently; I'd cleaned and R&R'd it per detailed instructions here but it still wouldn't make contact every time without excessive pressing force (the butt end of a screwdriver.) A new switch solved the problem. Worth looking into if you haven't yet.

Good points made above regarding the elimination of electrical issues first. With that in mind: 1) visually inspect the 'door tube' that carries the wiring from the dash & console switch into the door cavity, look for kinks that might indicate a fracture/break inside it affecting the window switch wiring. 2) After removing the door card but before removing the window regulator assembly- pop off the white connector to the window motor and check it for 12v when switch is depressed. If you get voltage it is possible that the thermal overload protector has failed open. The protector can either be replaced individually or a new 'brush kit' could be installed. However This repair will require removal and disassembly of the window motor.

Remove the three 10mm bolts on the inside of the door that hold the window regulator/motor assembly to the door. Then push the window up by hand from the inside (the loose window regulator assembly will move with it) and you will see that you can slide the white nylon roller that is at the end of the window regulator off of the track that is at the bottom of the window. Then you will need to tape the window in the up position to finagle the window regulator and motor out toward the back opening.
Stan has a good write up on this and re-furbishing the motor. I will try to find and post it, if someone else doesn't beat me to it.

Thank you all for the quick replies. I have good voltage to the motor so the switch and electrical is working fine. Working on the motor removal now.

Take care with removing the door card/inner liner - open the door pocket, locate the 10mm bolts in there, remove. There are 2 screws on the bottom edge hiding in the carpet material, front and rear - the bottom cover comes off first - it may be fragile, they are well known for dying of old age. You may need to glue parts back together. 1 screw holds the cable guide at the front in place. When you have the glass up near the top, wedge it in place from the outside so it cant fall. Check the white nylon guides for wear that can allow the glass to rattle when 1/2 down. Do a search here for a post with pics of the process.

Update-

New motor installed and window now working. The only snag I had was getting the motor back into the gearbox without shifting the bushing that holds the tip of the shaft. After that everything sent smooth, so thanks to all for the help.
