That's crazy speed and nerves of steal.
The tires and wheels are a compromise between aerodynamics, road handling, and "gear ratio". I'm running Michelin PS 4S 235/40ZR18 on the front and 265/40ZR18 on the rear. These have to be (Y) rated to go over 200 mph.

HP/TQ are over 500, but below 530 at the rear wheels depending on tune, heat, and fuel.

Oh and videos are in process.

Thanks John,

You're right about Bill's help, I couldn't perform at this level without him. That goes for the Sharktuner also.

My guess is not, which is even more amazing.
If not, how much faster do you think the car will go?
The accelerator pedal is not full on the floor most of the time, but it's at WOT a lot (if that makes sense). I was hoping to hit 220 mph this run, but had to back off to make sure I could finish.

Outstanding work!!!!!

Has anyone else pointed out your AVERAGE speed is higher than a stock 928's TOP speed??

One of these runs I need to make it out there.

George, most of the rest of us are pretty excited to be able to run WOT for at most a minute or two. I can't even imagine WOT for extensive periods of time.

Has Carl's car, in "Salt Flat Trim", (with 1000hp) gone faster than this speed, but not officially recorded?

Here is the first video.

The Start

I accelerated slowly and kept the speed down in the corners to save wear on the tires. If I was running unlimited, I'd have to push harder through the whole course.

What tires do the unlimited cars use? Is anything Z rated or above allowed or do they have specific brands / compounds to use?

For street tires they have to have a (Y) rating, i.e. (101Y) for my rear tires and (95Y) for the front. Racing tires are allowed but must be cleared by the Chief Tire Tech. All tires must be less then 2 years old based on there manufacture date.

Here's the second video. Sure takes a long time to compile, process and upload these videos. I though I bought a fast computer two years ago, but it still takes more time then I would like.

The Speed Trap

As you'll see I was up to 216 mph too early and slowed down to keep the temps in line. Then the speed trap markers came to quickly, with the last one seemingly space too short. Probably could have gotten 1 or more mphs as the car was still accelerating. Oh well, it's a balancing act.

Mostly coolant and intercooler water temps. Those will have the most detrimental effect on engine combustion. I didn't what then to get too high and start pre ignition or detonation events at these sustained speeds. The oil and trans temps were acceptable.

How much fuel do you go through in a run?

Interesting. Engine and intercooler coolant temperatures being important for knock makes sense. What's your limit on those? Do you have an individual max for each, or do you take some sort of weighted average an put a max on that?

About 3/4 of the tank (22 gal fuel cell), can't be more exact since I haven't filled up yet, but I went out and checked the gauge:
