Not picking on Shawn specifically, you just happen to have stepped into the crosshairs. Adjusting for distance and windage, ...
Our favorite 928 parts purveyors go many extra miles to try and keep the harder-to-find and otherwise-NLA pieces available for us. Don't be shy getting pieces from them that may still be relatively easily available. It's somewhat ironic that we go to a bargain-basement outlet to find parts, then go back to our specialty vendors only when the few-dollars-cheaper supply of knock-offs dries up. There's an incentive for them to keep the original pieces available so long as we buy them. Reality is that probably 90% of the 928s on the road today are in need of tie rods, and the further reality is that 90% of the owners of those cars are in denial about it.
Know that Roger and undoubtedly some others have easy access to parts from the Porsche catalog, notwithstanding the model prefix in the part numbers. Boxter, Cayenne, GT3 RS Touring, all can be shipped in the same box that your 928 bits arrive in.

Sorry, Roger.

I did not miss that point! I'm constantly working on my Boxsters, and I just picked up an '87 911 Cab that needs some love. Dave has graciously offered to not sell me his tie rod so that I can get the part from 928sRus.

While there are some sources for some parts that may be a bit cheaper, the known sourcing and exemplary service from Roger usually are worth it.

Trying to find a "good" 35 year old tie rod assembly seemed like such an impossible thing to do....
