This is one small step in that direction; but it kind of coordinates with the bigger step I made some time ago with my version of the 928 Cowl Covers. I think that thread is still alive and well. Do a search.

The cap and lanyard after the post base is screwed back into place.

This shows how and why I redesigned the lanyard for the cap. I think the original lanyard is repurposed from some other application.

Yours is a definite upgrade that makes sense.
How much?

edit - I have not been around here much lately, so was not aware of the passing of your bride. My deepest condolences, kind sir.

Here's what the inside of mine looks like. I had to add the fender tabs as a separate piece since mine are formed from sheet rather than being molded like the Factory item. Then I also added a strip of ABS to the top edge to beef it up and to close the other side of the slots for the fender tabs.

Thanks Wayne for your creative input. However I think your last two PM messages were intercepted for some reason and not sent thru. Try me in my email: jfeather@bresnan.net

Any chance you're able to mold it so that the textured ABS is on the inside and the smooth part is on the outside?

Yes, that can be done.

Had ordered Jerry's new jump post cover and cap 3 or 4 months ago and never got around to installing so since weather has been nice today in the ATL, thought I would get that done. It fits nicely and I like the fact that the red cap doesn't drop down under everything as it's tether is a bit shorter than the stock cap. The cover is more rigid than the stock and seems to have a tad more space under the cover but not sure if that's true or not. I do like the red cap as it's more intuitive than the stock blue color.

All in all a nice product!

You need to take it off and look closely at the bracket that the jump post is mounted on because it looks like it might be bent. The inboard face of the cover should not be deformed and the cap should be more perpendicular to it. jfeather@bresnan.net

Not to be obtuse, but are these types of items for sale through a vendor, or is it by contacting Mr. Feather directly? These are exactly the kind of things that I like to take care of on my car as an easy way to feel like I've made some tangible improvements. I have a '90 S4 and have never been able to locate this mythical jump post so the design of this cover seems like it would be a really nice visual guide. As I have yet to install a fixed trickle charger wire in this area, this would be a great double project.

Looks like great stuff.

Cheers
