Default Yikes, failed strut top mount - any options other than OEM?

Ok, so this is the damage - I have Gaz coilovers which require spacers. There is room, until the top mount fails - then it hits the fender (and the hood)..

I am going to replace both sides..are there any upgrade options or is stock the way to go?

before you buy any parts please post pictures of how you have assembled these new shocks
IE take one apart and lay the parts out se we can see how you put it together

This —-^ X 928.

AFAIK never heard of a 928 popping the upper strut assembly.

OK, thanks. I wonder if there is a load bearing washer missing from beneath the mount?

Orientation of the washers is also paramount.

In my experience, emergency garage time costs by a factor of a LOT!!!! 😂

The black cylinder is the section that was bonded into the shock mount.

Had a car shipped to me a few years back from a 928 "shop" that did shocks and a ton of work. It was missing #9 and sent the shock through the harness along the passenger side. Caused quite a mess. The OP's car looks to be doing the same thing but what he's posting pictures of looks like nothing I'd let near a 928.

There are items in the OP’s first picture in post #1 that are not shown in the second picture. Your instructions were not clearly understood it seems.

Ah! This explains why on a few occasions I’ve seen black electrical tape there. Always worrisome that.

To date though, I have yet to find a crank pulley with channel lock marks on it.

Quick Reply: Yikes, failed strut top mount - any options other than OEM?
