Were S4 manhole wheels available in platinum?

I came across a picture of a clubsport wheel a while back that had an interesting label on the back, 'Anodisation E6'.
That led to this article on the EURAS standard for anodized surfaces, which says E6 is a surface prep process using etching. Then there are some EURAS color standards for the finish color. I don't know what color code Porsche spec'd for their platinum anodized wheels, but I'd guess a good anodizing shop would be able to find out what the etching process is and then do a sample or two in the E6/C32 or E6/C33 range, and see how that matches against a good-condition platinum anodized wheel.
Here's the link to the Shueco article on anodizing standards.

It does look like C32 or C33 are candidates. I'm thinking a C32.5 is closer to my memory though.

thanks for all the great info! from this it seems like should be able to match whatever color i need. so on to the last part of my question, anyone have an idea of what the MY87 S4 color was? it seems like from the above thread they were mostly silver, and not platinum? is there a way to know based on my VIN what color the car came with? http://www.grooshsgarage.com/1987-porsche-928s4/

Code M347 is the one for the platinum wheels. I don't believe there was a specific option code for the aluminum anodized wheels as they where considered the standard wheel/finish.

did the vin check, no option for wheels. must be the standard aluminum anodized then. thanks!
Post your VIN in this thread and Rob can run the options for you.

Interesting that there was no code for silver anodized wheels.
I understand that the MHC were standard on the S4. But they were also standard on the S2 in 85, weren't they?
I thought they were standard on all of the "S" cars (as always, could be wrong on that).
But I've seen option I395 for "Light metal wheels, forged, anodized, 7Jx16". I have that on my 85 Euro S (S2).

It took a while, but I found a pair of 8” platinums. In fact they’re brand new, never used new-old-stock. Here they are with two (of my four) original platinum 7” wheels. Can hardly wait to get this set on my car!!!

Thanks Jerry!
I just re-read this thread and wanted to follow up on Rob’s anodization note, and add one other note.
One of the two wheels has a similar anodization inkstamp and I think it’s “E G” instead of “E 6” at least on this wheel. I did find this document which describes “E” but not G or 6: https://www.schueco.com/web2/asset/c...ation_1114.pdf
I hope that G might refer to the exact color so that the community can benefit, but a quick search didn’t find anything. Would love to hear from others who may have found more.
Also, the other wheel bore this “alfi” stamp, but not an anodization stamp (though there’s a very light but illegible circular stamp of some kind). I didn’t get any hits on “alfi” either. Any clues?

wash them with car soap and water then dry off then smear vaseline onto them,
polish with a microfiber
Kind of hard to tell with the picture,
but the vaseline really makes the wheel surface shine it takes away that dry looking areas

A recent thread about the factory race driver's cars included pictures of platinum flats installed on those cars.
