I was directed to this facility by the fellas at Hennessey - I will be contacting them today too. Here's to hoping!

I'm having no luck finding a venue to test the car. Suggestions welcome.
I had hopes of testing at the Uvalde proving grounds, and we had contracts in hand and everything. https://www.continental-truck.com/tr...ss-unit/uvalde
But they now have decided not to allow land speed testing at their facility any more. Seems like the Hennessey test of the Exorcist will be their last one. Reason given is that they don't have enough deceleration room for what we want to try - they are a tire test track, not a race course. Their outer corners are not banked. Flat. It would have been a bear to get down to where I could make that turn anyway.
We have been calling Sawyer AFB (I have called a LOT of airports) and the general consensus is that if the airport has a control tower, then it is controlled by the FAA. If controlled by the FAA, they will never approve the closing of a runway for a thing like this. That means trying to find a very long private airport (they can close their runway) and I'm not having much luck there.
I have also tried the organizers of the Silver State Open Road Race to see if they'd let me on that very nice stretch of straight highway they have at the end, and came away with a "no" there too. I can't run the event like George Suennen does (hats off to George for his 1st place win this year!) because I cant carry enough fuel for a 90 minute race/rally. I haven't asked, but I assume a pit stop mid rally would not be allowed.
What I need: About 2 miles of pavement and about .6 mile of deceleration area. there can be a curve before the straight so the whole thing doesn't have to be straight. It can have a bend in it. I also need some sort a calibrated speed trap to measure terminal velocity. I can't set a record with a photo of my speedometer. For this reason, the measuring device has to be outside the vehicle on the ground. If I can just find the venue, I think I can work out the speed trap portion to get the thing measured.
My engineers have improved their aero modeling of our car, and the new expected top speed is 237 MPH. That's less than our earlier estimates, and may help us secure us a venue. I'd love to move the bar up, and I have the car to do it if I can only find a place.
Any suggestions or help appreciated.

Here's what can happen when you are trying to set a top-speed record and don't have enough room for the decel afterwards...

not going to find many 2.5 mile runways that aren't an international airport.
serious suggestion - have you tried contacting the state Highway Patrol?
plenty of straight secondary highways around Horicon, if they can't block off a section of Interstate.

Carl,
Since 2018 the May Nevada Open Road Challenge (NORC) has been a two way event, 60 miles each way. The start the race at the 30 mile point of the original 90 mile SSCC event, so that's only 10 miles from the Speed Trap. If you can make 60 miles, then you fill up again at the turn around. If not, then at least you'll make it through the Speed Trap. So if you don't get DQ'ed, then your speed through the Speed Trap will be "official".
Let me know if you want any more info about this.

Thanks, George. That's new information to me.
I have an 18 gallon fuel cell, so to make 60 miles I will need to average over 3.33 MPG. I'll need to do some math to see if I can make that.
At WOT, the full 1114 HP, I consume 1.5 gallons of fuel per minute, so I carry 12 minutes of fuel in an 18 gallon fuel cell.
At 50% throttle, it looks like .73 gpm, which is 25 minutes in a 18 gallon tank.
How much fuel do you start with, and how much is left after you run the 60 mile leg?
Right now, there's a chance I may have found a venue closer to me than Nevada, and I will focus on it first. But baring that, this is a real possibility. I'll be in touch.
