Removing the Crank Pulley Bolt - The Hard Way
The hard way is when the crank has already been removed from the block. This is how Jon928se did it so that I could use the crank sprocket - Thanks Jon!

Wow, is this ever going to scare the crap out of the newibies comming on board, and being so bold as to ask for help in their first ever foray into a TB/water pump job!!

I took mine off this weekend re my suercharger install, I used a 1 1/16, 8 point socket on a 1 inch ratchet ( the "big" ratchet ) with a 4 foot pipe. Put the car in 5th gear and applied the hand break. Came off smooth as butter as it should have, since I can apply about a 1,000 pounds of torque with my big" ratchet.

I did a TB recently, used a 1/2" ratchet (10" handle) with no extra pipe, came off just like a 10mm bolt
PS. Did I mention I had a torque multiplier between the 1/2" ratchet & the crank pulley bolt !
Boy O boy what a tool ! Unfortunately it was not mine, only borrowed, they cost £400 + ( $600 )
