Default Fuel Hoses

I wanted to replace the fuel hoses in the engine compartment. Passenger side, fuel feed to steel line under the intake. Any tried making the hose from -6 AN? Where could I find the metric hose ends?

Are you talking about the rubber hose pieces on the fuel return rails? Mine were cracked, and I just replaced them with some 5/16 rubber fuel line. No hose ends required, just a couple of hose clamps on my 1980.

If you are talking about some thing else, never mind :-)

Nope not the injectors but the rubber hoses from the steel lines that run to the fuel tank.

On my '85, this hose was also cracked; I spotted it when I had the manifold off, more on that later. I'm thinking I avoided possible catastrophic fire. A break there could pool raw fuel into the valley around the MAF. About a quart could collect before spilling over the rear, possibly onto the exhaust manifold. It runs under the MAF in a sort of "U", from the fuel feed (drivers side firewall) to the pressure regulator at the passenger firewall. Straightened out it measures 16" long. It's not impossible to get to with just the air cleaner off, I guess the outer portion of the manifold on the 85-86 needs to come but those three pieces (2 manifold + air cleaner) are not hard to remove. HTH.

Tony,

There's a coupla different ways to connect to the hardlines with 6AN. I'll try to call you tonight with more info.

I prefer using a metric adapter fitting rather than remove part of the factory hardline and add a compression fitting adapter.

Do you prefer stainless or Kevlar/black cloth type lines? (Just curious, some like the SS look, but the Kevlar or cloth covered hoses are about half the weight, and look more 'factory'.)

Sadly we dont carry hose suitable for petrol injection..Armoured teflon should do it though, as long as its correctly crimped.

Thanks,

gbyron,
The rubber look is fine. Can't see the stainless anyhow.

Tony,

I think I have the correct adapters (metric to -6). They aren't in the box I thought they were, but I should have them.

They aren't terribly expensive, under $20 each. And if you start -6 at the fuel in line, you only really need one.
