So here's a question, just how hard are these things to replace. I mean, I've done my engine, trans( yes I should have done mounts then) out to do torque tube, suspension, put on a supercharger and taken back off and made stock. So where does this fall in the realm of repairs?
I managed to pinch the trans temp switch wiring in the right-side mount. Don't Do That. It will cause the fans to run on slow and drain the battery if you don't catch it.

Here's a picture of what Dr. Bob is describing. To orient yourself, this is looking through the rear wheel well. Using a couple long extensions connected together, it's a straight shot to get the socket on the lateral bolts.
Unrelated, I bought my mounts in 2012 and they were $140 a pop. I looked on Sonnen today and they're now $165. Considering Porsche's other crazy price increases, this doesn't seem so bad.

Are the Porsche replacements that expensive to warrant other such alternatives?

I guess it's a sticker-shock and point-of-view issue. I replaced mine when I was working to eliminate the hot air through the shifter area syndrome. Kind of like that constantly-nagging ex, I didn't realize the noise level until it wasn't there any more with new mounts. Mine had sagged about half way in 25 years, so the few dollars a month rental cost on new mounts didn't make a significant blip on the $radar really. Still, I experimented some with filling the cavities on the original mounts before I popped a new set of Porsche mounts in there.
