My car came from Arizona. It's never had more than a gallon of Zerex G-05, a bottle of water wetter and distilled water to fill the system. It gets changed every 3 years or so, but not much driving. It sits a lot. I've never heard anything bad about Zerex G-05, only the green stuff like Prestone. I'm wondering what I might find when I pull the heads this winter.

My 90 GT has had regular and excellent coolant maintenance over its 29 year life. There is little doubt that it has been over-maintained since I bought it in 2002. The engine runs great and shows no signs of leaking or corrosion in the cooling system. I am coming up on a TB/WP service and the heads have never been off. Should I really tear this engine down at this point?
Given my personality, I'd end up going all in and this would become a stroker motor with all of the issues that go along with that... OR - should I just maintain it and find out how long one of these engines can go with excellent maintenance?
And what "issues" are there with a stroker? Besides the expense I mean? Or are you referring to needing new rear tires every couple of weeks as an "issue"?
*I* *AM* curious about the condition of the heads on my '91. It too has a stellar history viz-a-viz coolant and it's gotten that 'bad Green' coolant(*) like in that OP subject '89 for the last 20 years. I'm going to pull the engine in the next year or two 'cause... I can. And it needs cad plating.
* In the old days color meant something with regard to coolant. Not any longer.
