928 Finally Dropped to ElGreco on Long Island
Hi Everyone,
It's been a while since I've posted anything re: my 928. We had a nice day over 60 here yesterday in NY, and I figured I would take the 928 for a spin. Upon getting into the car, I found the clutch pedal on the car stuck to the floor and knew the slave cylinder had gone bad. It was on its way out at the end of the year so this wasn't a surprise. Decided to have it towed to Pete aka ElGreco for repair and also to have all of my deferred maintenance done (TB, WP, Tensionioner, fluids, etc). I'm also having Pete go through the whole car to ensure fuel, brake, and cooling systems are safe. I gave him a pretty long list of what it needs.
He couldn't have been nicer, and allowed me to drop the car right away. I'll post some updates when possible.

Pete maintains a low profile, but he is among the most knowledgable 928 techs. Pete's the kind of guy who stands off to the side while others are troubleshooting a broken 928 in a dark parking lot...casually suggesting "I think it's the thingamajig" early in the ordeal. Later, in the small hours of morning, it indeed turns out to be the thingamajig.

I have to say, food (or beer )is the best kind of bribery for the most knowledgeable people when it comes to cars. I bribed the machinists I used with cookies I made

Got my car back yesterday from Pete.
He went through the entire car and I green lighted him to fix everything that needed it (the list above and more).
Couldn't be happier with the results. The car is rock solid and pretty damn quick considering its 34 years old. Its got headers on it, and straight piped exhaust. Pete felt it may be quicker than his s4!
I didnt realize what a bucket this car was, until driving it after Pete worked his magic.
I gave her a quick wash last night, and I still need to button the interior back up and give it a solid detail.
Thankfully, the interior needs nothing and there are no tears and my car didn't have a leather wrapped dash and pod.
