Default long island shop for transmission work?

New to the 928 scene, I think my auto trans in my 1985 928s might need some work...is there a good shop local ? I am on long island, Suffolk county..... I feel it doesn't shift correctly...very low on power from the start....Gear indicator position I think is off.... I don't want to bring it just a transmission shop... thought a local Porsche shop might know of a place..?

Check your fluid level with the fluid fully warmed. These units are very sensitive to fluid level (only 200 ml between min and max) and will give all sorts of strange behavior if not properly filled. The final drive is 2.20:1 for more top speed but it does make moving off a bit slow. When was the fluid/filter last changed?

"very low on power from the start"

Be mindful that "Porsche V8" doesnt mean drag racer.

The 928 was built for an entirely different purpose.

speedtoys... I understand that, but my 1997 dodge pick up is way quicker , It seems like the engine doesn't rev up freely , I am hoping just throttle adjustment and trans adjustment.... if I hold it out longer in low gears it really comes alive, but that's above 3500 rpm, it wont even hold that high of rpm when just in auto, something is out of whack..... fingers crossed...simple repair
