From all the posts I have read, the general consensus on plastic dash caps is, Don't Do it!
They will warp and look bad-
My question is if you had to do a plastic dash cap due to budget restrictions, what adhesive/glue/silicone would you use?
The dash would be out of the car.
Also how would you prep the dash prior to installation?

If you have dash issues it means the dash was exposed to hot sunny conditions, those same conditions will shrink the cap in short order the type of adhesive won't mater much except for the later removal of the mess. Budget solution is carpet.
On my '84 I used the silicone stuff that came with the dash cap. It smelled like aquarium cement. I had no issues with it warping BUT this is what you have in store when you remove it. The horror... The horror.

If your dash / pod are in decent shape except for a crack or two, it will be destroyed after removing the cap with adhesive.
