1986 immobiliser problem workaround.
Hello fellow 928 owners.
I think I have an issue with my 1986 s2 immobiliser. Sometimes unlocking the door isn’t switching it off. I only have the long “S” keys so every time I lock the door I set the alarm/immobiliser.
Can you lock the door from the inside before shutting it? (When leaving the vehicle) therefore locking the car without setting the immobiliser?
Or will this damage the door/latch in some way?
Cheers.

Not a problem if you did, just curious.
And the answer I gave there is the same as I will give here:
No. You cannot lock the door with it open. It won't work. Not if it's functioning correctly.
Each lock cylinder has a switch in it. It's not unusual for a wire from the switch to detach or break. You can lose 'one side' of the switch. It will arm. but not disarm. Or the other way around.
Try each lock to see what's what.

Once upon a time I had a Saab 900 where you couldn't lock the door from the inside button with it open so you couldn't lock your keys in the car.
The trick was to pull the inside handle and while holding it open, you could push the lock button down. Don't know if the 928 will work with the same trick.
I installed electric power locks into mine so don't ever use the key in the lock cylinder anymore.
