Spotted: Weissach #54
This past week I was picking parts for my 914 at my favorite Porsche graveyard, and when done I asked the owner about the 928 parked up front. (I've seen this car parked there for quite some time.)
He replied "yeah, its a Weissach". I asked, does it run? "Yeah, I just drove it and parked it there." (I'm not sure how long ago, "just" was.)
In any event he let me look it over, take pictures and answer questions.
Here is my light-hearted attempt at ad copy for this car:
"For sale: a very rare 1982 Porsche 928, it is #54 of only 205 commemorative "Weissach Edition" cars sold, as noted by the exclusive gold Weissach crest on the dash. Only this special limited edition came with virtually every interior surface covered in unique brown two-tone leather, gold anodized wheels, and the glimmering "hellbronze-metallic" paint. This car is all original inside and out, with only the front seats recovered. Currently owned by a long-time Porsche mechanic and driven less than an average of 5,000 per year since manufacture. Runs but needs a tuneup. It is a must see, and a chance to own a piece of history."
I personally verified that all of the above-stated facts are technically true. I took these pictures two days ago--it looks better in the pictures than in person.
I asked him if it was for sale, and he said he'd take $5,000 for it. I told him I needed that car like I needed a hole in my head, but I'd pass the info along.
And no, he does not have the luggage.
Enjoy:

We have over 500 928's in the DFW area - maybe the oil money back when.
