Default Rear Quarter Panel Window Removal and Installation

Hi, friends. I noticed that my passenger quarter panel window has a leak and my driver's side quarter panel window has broken plastic trim. From what I have read, it looks like window removal and reinstallation is in order. Is this something that could be done by one person relatively easily, or should i take it into a shop? Right now I have removed almost the entire interior for cleaning and would like to repair the windows before I finish it up.

It's doable in a garage. I would recommend getting new seals before you start though.

The leaky one is obviously failed and the one with the warped trim likely won't accept new trim and will leak soon after.

It's also much easier to cut the seal than it is to pry the window out.

Sorry I totally disagree, I have changed many of these, there is no need to cut the rubber. Don’t cut the rubber unless you want to because it’s rotten. Even then it’s easier to get it out in one piece.

Start at the end of the window near the spoiler or wing. Start to lift that corner, if you can get a helper have that person press from the inside and slowly start prying out the window. I put masking tape, plenty of layers on the paint work to protect it.

Im 99% sure you’re going to find rust under that rubber. I’ve never seen one without rust. I’m doing one right now. Depending on how much weather your rubber has copped your rubber might be ok. They generally last well to twenty years, after that it may get questionable.

Good luck.
