Default 928 emergency brake cable sizes: Different?

As hope slips away for getting this car ready for any sort of track work this year I'm trying to fix the emergency brake cable. In a nutshell last fall the passenger brake shoe spring retainer broke with the result that the brake drum pulled apart and broke the end of the brake cable where the link with the hole goes to the pair of cams that push the brake pads apart. I don't *think* that part can be fixed, so I need to replace the cable. And since it's the passenger side I have to replace the whole length of the cable from lever to caliper.

Have a spare cable in good shape, however when I pulled the current cable out of the car I noticed that the cable length from the ferrule to the threaded end appears a number of inches shorter than the current cable. So......

Is the 86.5 and later rear brake cable lengths different from the 86 and earlier models? This one has a 10mm bolt at the junction point where the cables go driver and passenger wheel, the one on my car appears to have a keeper clip.

Any thoughts appreciated. If I have the wrong part I'm sunk for the year.

Well, that's a dry well. The parking brake cable *I* have on the car has a cotter pin to hold the sides together, and two metal tubes at the point of the junction each with their own bracket. This replacement has no tubes, is probably shorter, and probably clips into points on the frame.

Oh well, so much for that. In the future, is there a place where I can see all the exploded parts for *all* years of 928's? My manual set here is really inconsistent, seems to be for the 87 and up models. Which this should be as it's an 86'5 except that I'm guessing half of it is wrong.

Crud.

Christopher, I use the Porsche Classic parts site for part numbers and exploded versions.

Thanks, those help a lot. New parts on order, at least I know how to get the cable out and back in again.

If it hadn't decided to snow on Sunday I would have been able to get the door repairs finished. But it did, and Monday way nice but work and all gets in the way......

Closing thread out: Got the right part, reassembly of the brake cable is not bad you just need to spend the time making sure everything is properly lined up. Working brakes, happy me.
