Default Need some help finding G7 on CE panel

So I should know this but apparently don't, sorry. Where do I find the green G7 wire on the CE panel?

I believe the bottom plugs go from left to right A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, Y, Z, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X

So G would be 7th over from the left on the bottom row, correct?

I don't know if this changes for the later cars, but in the OB cars, plug G is the 7th plug, and then pin 7 would be one pin down, on the right side of the plug.

Looks like this green one I am touching is the tach signal, now just to dial-up my courage to cut it and wire in the TachAdapt.

cut the insulation off your new wire and wrap it around the pin and test it first.

Hi Stan - thanks for the note. I've never pulled a wire out of the CE panel, are they just a press fit?

The wires in the connectors are latched in with a barb that you can reach from the front side of the connector.
If you look at it, you'll see a small notch on the side of the pin with the flat.
You can insert a small flat head screwdriver in that notch and use it to release the barb.
I used a tiny screwdriver, with something near 1.5-2mm blade.

Thanks Josh, so that would allow me to disconnect it and test the revised circuit per Stan's suggestion.

Thanks!

Just a quick update on this thread in case anyone else finds it - the tach wiring appears to have changed significantly when '85+ model year cars were introduced and you are going to need to do more research on how you car is wired. G7 is NOT the signal to use on a '85+ car and I wanted to make that clear here so my incorrect understanding above does not trip anyone up.

And to make connector removal easy , get one of these sets! Invaluable especially with the round pin connectors. Next time you see a thin steel blade in the gutter after a street sweeper has been past( ~1/8" wide, .025" thick, up to 8" long) take it home and put it somewhere safe - they make a good release tool for the retaining tangs on radio HU in the dash.
