it should be smooth and you should clean it.

it should have some elex grease on it,
a lite smear of dilectric grease will work this so the fingers wont wear out the grid
DC111 will also work

Dielectric grease is an insulator - I don’t recommend using it for this. Clean with contact promoter of your choice, the wiper tines too. I too don’t see anything inherently wrong with the relay replacement - you can test it out of the car - but you need to test the switch part while under load (use a 21W brake lamp bulb).

Personally I feel the relay that drives the compressor clutch should be a bigger more robust and more easily replaceable relay on the CE panel - Porsche screwed this up in the updated design (that’s where it originally was).
