Default Best Car Wax

Hello old freinds!
Hope all of you are well.
I did a search for car wax and got nil. I need something to bring back oxidized paint. Can y'all recommend something good?
Thanks,
Randy

Mothers or if it's real bad the old tried and true Turtle wax rubbing compound. A good non orbital buffer, and the correct compounding wheels.

Randy, did you return to the world?

It will give you better result if you take the time to do the job the right way.

Clay bar, paint polish (different stages)… And finish with a good wax.

I like Adams and Griot's Garage products.

+928!!! I tell people this all the time. It's not about what wax. It's all about the process. What Bertrand said above. Any good wax at the end is fine.

We are well. LIving in Victoria, Tx. Panama was too far from daughter and granddaughters; according to my masssa!

This is for several signs with automotive paint; several hundred sq. ft. and up to 80' above grade. Want to do it right but can't spend hours per square foot. Ends up being more cost effective to remove the sign to the plant, sand and repaint.

Obviously, the clay bar is out, so Turtle compounding wax? Mother's , Rain Dance and Liquid Glass. Givern the application I described what if any is the consensus.

Don't regret moving to Panama, not for a moment. On the other hand, the convenience of the states is hard to beat. Miss the ranch, mostly miss the venison.

Thanks and Best to all of you,
R

Clay bar is so easy and effective. I used the stuff from Griots, and their speed shine, in the process. But Mother's for wax.

There was a Zymol wax I used to get which was AAAAAMazing. Zymol has all sorts of grades. This stuff was middle of the road stuff, but very expensive, nonetheless. And was amazing. But prep, before the wax, was just as paramount.

Oxidized paint? You need a Polish, not a wax. not the same thing.

Polish removes the rough surface of the paint and makes it smooth- which means shinny.

polish can and should be applied in steps, starting with most aggressive to least.

Wax then fills up the smaller grooves and makes is shinny-er. and provides a protective layer/coating.

No WAX alone will fix oxidization.

but before you polish, you need to clean the surface, remove contaminants. thats what the clay bar is for (used with a lubricant.)

Recommend you watch many videos on Youtube, AMMO NYC has some good one.

your in texas, recommend you contact Andy Kay, OCD Detaining. if you dont want to do yourself.

there's also a good car care sub-forum here on renny: https://rennlist.com/forums/concours-and-car-care-86/.

Probably find everything you'll ever need to know there.

Longest lasting won't be a wax, maybe one of the ceramic coatings. They tend to work great on vertical surfaces.

Ah, so this isn't for a car, do you plan do to this by hand or with a buffer?

The clay bar is to remove impurities buried in the paint that could get "kicked up" in the polishing process & make things worse. After using a clay bar, painted surfaces feel like glass.

Based on your criteria, you need an "all in on" product. I'm not a big fan of these, but I understand the situation you are in. A polish as mentioned above will cut through that oxidation and bring back the finish, then you need to seal the surface with a wax or synthetic product.

I've been a member of the Meguiars detailing forum for several years, I used to detail cars as a side gig a long time ago (now I cannot even keep my own cars in top shape...) It wouldn't hurt to create an account and post your question there. It's a very helpful group.

Meguiars Cleaner Wax comes to mind, here is some info on it:
https://meguiarsonline.com/forums/sh...at-every-month

If you have time for a two step process, that opens up the door to hundreds of polishes and sealants.
