94' GTS Cabin Filter and Shock replacement - weekend project
This past weekends activities....
Decided to go with oem Boge shocks and also replaced bump stops. As you can see they were toast and happy I made the decision to also change and was relatively inexpensive all things considered. The cabin filter was terribly dirty but the evaporator looked clean so the filter has done it's job.
The removal of the front struts went very well and no need to remove the upper control arms, searching here helped in that area tremendously... thank god as I just had replaced these when the motor was out and didn't think to replace the shocks at that time. The rear pins came our very easy (from the back) so no need to remove rear calipers/rotors. In total took around 1.5-2hrs. to remove all 4 once on the lift and help from a buddy.
Now, I'll clean up the springs a little from caked on years of dust and adjust ride height... also very happy the sleeves and nut rings all freed up with a little penetrating oil. Based on what I had searched before this could've been a terrible job or would've had to buy used ones from Mark.
Last pic from Rennsport Reunion this year on 9/28 at Laguna.. only GTS there.

You will be able to breath again with the new filter.

I wish their was a way to add a filter to the earlier 928s without having to swap out the entire climate control unit to one from a GTS for $$$.
The filters in modern cars that have activated charcoal work really well.
It was also nice meeting you at Rennsport last year

Thanks ROG for the help! Blake, yes good times!! headed to Vegas in May so getting her buttoned up for the ride. Will be with 10-12 Lambro's so need my sh$t in order... may just take the 993TT to help keep up but I want the more comfortable car so GTS will probably win out in the end.
Andy, no sir.. not one but if you search there are several people who have installed homemade filters where the boot is between the evaporator and the blower fan itself... seems to be a fair compromise but I'm unaware of how it performs.

I'd volunteer to change the cabin filter, while you do the shocks....similar effort, right?
