Ya know, here in the snowier portion of the world. "drift king" takes on a hole knew meaning.
Getting ready to go sweep an inch of clear blew sky powder off the driveway.

Hey, you chose to go up rather than over. We had a little room in TX, or woulda made a little room for someone with a 928. BTW, that offer does NOT extend for the balance of CA folk.

And for those playing along at home, consider Doc's perspective as a former ex has-been escapee from Cali, who still sneaks back in once in a while under cover of darkness or business.
K had been playing in golf tournaments in this area for over a dozen years. I'd get pics of homes along the courses starting at the second visit. We discussed having a seasonal or vacation home here, and she had the green light to find something she liked. So she did. The decision to move full time was fortuitous. The home here was a bargain on the local market, with distressed sellers at the bottom of the last recession. We ended up selling the Glendale house on the hill very well a couple years later, and invested the lag time in a total redo of the home here. We love Texas as a place to visit, but I don't get along well with heat and humidity so it never shows up on the places-to-live list. I still have SoCal properties if we decide we need to go back there. I still have family in Cali north and south, while K has family in the DFW area. Both offer reasons to visit, so we do take advantage. I get to regularly spend some extended business time in Texas, but I'm winding that down pretty quickly. We can live wherever we want really, and enjoy our current location. It's going to snow sometime this evening, continuing through the next week. We enjoy it, mostly since the worst that can happen is that we adjust our get-around schedule if the weather gets really ugly. I've had homes in Mammoth Lakes and Incline Village in the past, and regularly remind friends that the climate here is the same as Mammoth, minus thirty feet (!!!) of snow annually. I loved living there, loved living above the lake at Incline, especially loved easy access to skiing. We have the same thing here. K didn't want to live in Mammoth because of the isolation, or at Incline for other similar reasons. She chose this house and community. I'm happy that she's happy here. If you get my drift...
