Default Locking Lug Nut - No Key To remove

On My 85, I dont have/Lost the key for the locking lug nut sleeve. What is the best way to remove the lock. It doesn't matter if I destroy the lug nut - I have about 20 spares!

TIA

Cool

Hi Drew,

The key for my Boxster cracked. I went to the dealer. The Boxster guy had a set of keys. He matched mine. I ordered a new key from the manufacturer. It arrived within a week or two.

I went to a Goodyear Service Center. They didn't want to touch it, afraid of damaging the wheels. I asked the guy if it were his car what would he do. We talked to one of the mechanics, he said no problem. He took a 6 point socket put it on an extension, and hammered it on the locking lug nut. Air tool took it off in no time. They said no charge, however; I tipped the mechanic $20 and felt that was cheap.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Being that my resources are diminished at the present moment I went with drilling it out. Total time needed - 5 minutes.

Thanks again

Arrow Wheel Locks stuck on!

Had the keys with mine yet they continued to spin around without unlocking.. had found that a hole punch at the lock broke it up in about 2 light hits.. no drilling required and no damage to wheels or lug threads.. Hope this helps for others ..Dave

I have seen some very *rare* and expensive Porsche wheels damaged permanently, and actually less safe, from this drilling craze ;-) The dealer or the punch or the 6-way socket seem far better options. Bring a drill into your wheel bolt holes and you risk buying a new one or living with a damaged wheel. I looked at some club sports someone was selling here locally, recently - and they had been drilled to hell. A real shame.

I had no problem drilling out the old locking lug nut top. No damage to the stud or the lug nut itself. I also replaced the extended lug nut with a shorter one shown in the attached picture.

Lug nut anyone? LoL
