I'm considering buying what I believe is a 928 S4.
It's an 89 car and is not badged as an S4.
What surprised me is that it has sport seats with the high sides, but they are manually adjusted and have only got electric seat high adjustment.
Is this normal?
All other 928s I have had and seen have fully electric seats.

Also there is a whirring noise from the gearbox, when it's in Nuetral or park. Is that the torque tube bearings or the torque converter?

 

The 928 sport seats have manual controls for sliding the seat back and forth and back position.

I've heard some guys claim that they have full electric sport seats but have never seen proof of it..

928 seats, my favorite subject. Can't find it now but think there's picture of such equipt 928 somewhere in web. Have definitelly seen and sat in 1986 944 Turbo that had 12-way adjustable sport seats with heaters for both driver and passanger.

Think there were at least these variations available:
- Standard 8-way electric
- Standard 8-way electric with heater
- Standard 12-way electric
- Standard 12-way electric with heater
- Sport 4-way manual & 4-way electric
- Sport 4-way manual & 4-way electric with heater
- Sport 12-way electric
- Sport 12-way electric with heater

All these should have been available as just driver or passanger seat or for both. So sport for driver and standard for passanger or other way around is possible. To make things more complicated, choice between maybe 2 styles of cloth and 2 or 3 styles of leather in number of colors. And then there is Positrol memory for passanger seat, leather to sample...

Thanks, I knew some version had to be missing.
Those are likely even rarer than 12-way sports.
