The Omani police had a similar reaction when doing the annual inspection of my 928 last October. I advised them that I had a bigger silencer in the mid section than the stock one but did not advise about the missing rear muffler and the missing front box where the X pipe sits!

I am probably not as loud as that one in the video [or so I hope] but it certainly attracts a lot of attention wherever it goes. Interesting hoe they only put the ear defenders on with the last car- most un-German like as those sound power levels will cause ear damage rapidly at 1m distance or so I would think.

That old F1 car (#4) was amazing as well.

Back when I was first considering buying a 928, I was watching various youtube videos, and I found one where Carl at 928 Motorsports was demonstrating one of his supercharger kits, and he did a drive-by in a car that also had a custom exhaust. I remember him saying in the voice-over that "Of course, all 928s don't sound like that" and I was thinking "But they should!"

Happy to report that mine kinda does now!

I'd love to peruse the "back room" there at the museum. Just to be able to see some of the rare pieces in person would be awesome. Much less hear them running. Now I'm day dreaming.....

Sounds just like my 79. Headers + 3" open single exhaust.
