Tough to tell by those pictures, but my initial guess was a rubber damper typically placed between the suspension coils to make the suspension stiffer.

If you had jacked your car up in the garage recently, it could have stretched the coils enough to allow this damper to fall out...

i think its the surrounding on the front shift line under the console from under the car above the cat heat shield.

it kind of looks like the rubber spacer that goes on the alternator cable, just about 3"-5"from the alternator...seperates the cable from the frame, presumably to keep it from rubbing...my 85S rubber was just hanging from the cable, ready to jump ship when I uncovered it's escape attempt....
