Now, if you do all of the work yourself, $12 - $15K can go a fairly long way. There are great resources here on rennlist to help you and guide you with the project.

certainly don't want to burst a bubble or a vision, but I think you need to budget for at least 30k,and closer to 45.
…...and that would require you doing a good deal of basic work and subbing out bigger projects. the cost might not
be so painful if you make a list of priorities and got essentials done first, drive and enjoy a little, and then on to the next stage.
might take a little more time, but spreading the cost out might make it more palatable.
either way, best of luck!

16 hours from restoration ideas to for sale might be a record on here. Paul, Since you started out listing the problems, you might want to post a price (required for this forum) as well as more pictures. Was this car from south texas? It looks familiar.

Actually I have owned the car since October. I had a shop who was going to work on the car but he kept putting me off. If someone gives me $5000 they can have the car. Otherwise I will park it behind the garage and forget it for a few years. I has a full tank of gas so I will go out and start the car 1 or 2 times a month.
Or Best Offer!

Paul,
If you post where you are, and a little more about the car, you might get some responses. Since you purchased the car in October, it can also help to provide info on where the car came from. Not necessarily the name of the seller, but just a geling

Passenger seat is totally trashed. all leather is gone. The new wheels and tires I will be keeping(last picture). The other wheels are from a 997(too big in my opinion but previous owner liked them)

For that budget range, you are not talking restoration, maybe just getting it running right and chasing the electrical gremlin that, if not soon addressed, will surely burn your car down, along with your house if you keep it in the garage. Smoke from the dash is 100% always a bad thing. Forget about the interior or anything else in that range.

I got a car in yesterday, with 46,000 miles. Original owner was his dad. Sat for 15 years. He's had it to two different "Porsche" repair shops. He's spent over 20K and the car still doesn't drive.....as a matter of fact, the second shop just caught the car on fire, underneath.
I'm now "seeing" this stuff on a continual basis.
The "rookie" 928 shops are costing people many thousands of unnecessary dollars. The things we see and fix without any thought (because we know what to look for and how to fix it) pay for most transportation costs from anywhere in the US.

Not a bad looking car...a -solid looking car- that isn't too far below Condition 4. (Haggarty)
$5k is probly about right today.
If I had a parking space, I would buy this.

It drives fairly good. Feels like it needs a timing belt. and there is a lot of slop in the transmission( I already bought new bushings. comes with the car). I swapped the radio and put a sony didgital only source( no CD/DVD drive) But I also have the original(it works).
