84 Euro with bent frame on BAT
#2
84 Euro S2. Not a common car in the US. I've heard that something like 500 total S2s were brought in. No clue how accurate that number is.
For what the current bid is (or was a while ago), it's not a bad deal.
The 'kerfuffle' that happened with the revelation of the salvage title ('washed clean' in Missouri) and the misalignment of the body panels was 'interesting'. Gotta love how the BaT commenters are willing and able to find the true nature of a car (good or bad). I know some regulars on here are regulars on there (and on FB too).
Bids were retracted. It had reached $8k and isn't there now.
I'm guessing that some folks see the "S2 Euro" and are willing to overlook the 'bent front end' for the right price. Under the right conditions, it's possible that I would be one of them.
Can it be fixed? Can it be lived with? Can the motor & trans be swapped into a roller?
Or are people just blind to the reality of it?
Dunno.

Until the auction is over we won't know, but so far after the kerfuffle was settled, it seems to be bidding normal for a salvage car with this history.
Put it on the alignment rack, if everything checks out good to go and will make a fine driver. Bent frames are fixed all the time in the automotive world and many times (more often than most realize) with clear titles & carfaxes. At least this one was (eventually) disclosed.
If this suddenly skyrockets to say.....$30k, I'll be very confused

My 81 had a bent frame.
I had it straightened when I took the engine out. It was a fairly minor thing to do but now all the body panels fit correctly.
This car needs the same, and maybe a bit more. But it is nothing that will make the car unsafe at this point.
If it can hold an alignment, it's probably fine.
