Another foot of snow on the ground. The Shark is patiently waiting it's wake up call. What do you do when it's too cold / snowy to drive or work on the Beast?

What snow?
Its all relative...
70F, sunny. Slight breeze from the ocean.
But I haven't driven my car since October of 2002.

That picture was taken in Labrador, the part of Newfoundland that's attached to Quebec. Those drifts are about 20' tall. I've walked over buried telephone poles.

Snow? Ice? I'd call in frozen. Seriously, my cars all have summer tires and I have no idea how to drive in icy conditions, having only lived in CA We got a nasty bout of hail on the freeway this fall and there were several accidents within minutes, since no one here is prepared. No way I'd go out, even with a better equipped vehicle.

Brendan: Better get the cobwebs off the old S4 and let her rip since you're lucky enough to have 70's and sunny.

October of 2002, two things happened. Well, three if you count Sept 25, 2002, just a few weeks before.
1) My son, now of 16 months was born on Sept 25th, 2002
2) In October, the LH AND the EZK both chunked at the same time while the car was idling in the garage. The LH was found to be bad by 928intl, and I sold the EZK to Walt at a later date, only to find that that was actually an 86 set of guts with a blown chip of some sort, put into the 89 shell (THAT FREAKING EXPLAINS A FEW ISSUES)
3) Just one week later, I blew the 3spd auto transmission in my wife's 81 auto (may it rest in pieces, and in many other cars on rennlist)
4) Since I had already planned to do a DTA install on my 89, I decided to quickly get my 81 baqck in shape before I started to concentrate on the 89.
5) In November of 2002, we moved from a rental (we had been renting since moving to San Diego from Chicago since October 2001) to a new condo that I purchased.
6) I spent from November 02 until February 03 working on the 81 and during that time got the now infamous WYAIT disease. I needed a new transmission on an old 200k car to make it work. Instead, I updated the trans to a 4spd auto (84), new shocks/springs, new brakes, brake lines, new engine rod bearings, updated engine mounts to newer version, new pan gasket, new wiring loom (homemade), and a few other things. Oh, and a nice Dr. Gas X-over and custom exhaust.
7) Drive car 81 auto because it was now too loud for wife and baby to ride in. I thought it was cool. Started thinking about 89 and DTA www.dtafast.co.uk had a few teething issues with 81 that lasted t hrough February.
8) Proceeded to BLOW UP TRANS that I just put into the 81. Sure it was used, but DC automotive said they "tested it". This was about 2 weeks before we:
9) May 1st, we moved again, to a house with a garage, just north of San Diego.
10) Set up garage with two broken 928s. Proceeded to spend May- through - approx. September, PARTING OUT the 81 auto that I had painstakingly redone just over 9 months before. This took quite a while. All this time, the 89 sat quiet, but well protected in my new two car garage.
11) The 81 carcass was finally taken away (see this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...threadid=83235 )
12) At that point, I started to concentrate on my 89. I disassembled it, piece by piece, making sure that I recorded all the places that the loom goes (new loom is needed for DTA). I had to take off the cam covers to access some stuff.
13) I looked at the head bolts, inquisitively, like the monkey looked at the monolith in "Space Oddessy, 2001".
14) I took the engine out.
14a) Decide that engine sleeving and head work is required
15) I disassembled the whole suspension, since, WYAIT 2002, was NEVER CURED, and never will be. Its part of me.
16) I took off the transmission, thinking that it would stand a good cleaning.
I am now in the process of cleaning/polishing/powdercoating everything as I "start to get ready to proceed with" puting the car back together. I have a wire wheel machine that I clean everything with. I need to rebuild the calipers, and get some bushings, rotors, pads, and lines, and I can put the suspension back on, but before that I need to get the updated shift kinkage and torque tube assembly back from my mechanic.
Then its on to the engine, and finally, the DTA computer switch, which started this.
There. You asked O

Gosh, Brendan, my condolences.
Do you really enjoy doing all those things more than driving it?
"disassembled the whole suspension"
You are beyond the point of no return... part it out, get another & do one thing at a time!!!

Here in Boston, I've learned to go out of my way to enjoy every day possible before winter gets here. I ride motocross and street, but the bikes and the 928 get put away and they all sit (together in the garage) while we wait out the winter.
As much as I can I try to think about other things...really sick of N.E. weather. Don't know what else to say, winter sucks. Have a beer or four.

If every day were Summer, you would never enjoy those last Fall days as much as you do, or feel the excitement of the first ride of Spring!
Besides, Winter is the perfect time to do those repair jobs that have the car out of service for a while...
Now quit gripeing and sand your sidewalk.
