What was (is) the original size for the fronts and rears?

225 x 50 x 16 on stock 7 inch S wheels .......... many people however put wider rear tire because it "looks cool" ?? and the S-4 with 8 INCH REAR RIMS used a 245 x 45 x 16 . In my opinion , too wide a tire pinched on a narrrow rim looks silly and handles poorly . If you wish to track your 83 it will probably work better with 7 x 15 inch rims and 225 50 15 tires ( Kuhmo victor racers ) look a bit odd but work better .
