Default DFW 928 Breakfast GTG- January 5, 2019

Golden Egg in Bartonville, Texas
Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 8am

For at least a couple of years, Andrew's restaurant in Bartonville was the home of our GTG breakfasts. Andrew's ended up closing and we spent a while meeting at the Dixie House on 183 in Euless. Highway construction ended up killing that restaurant for us, but we were wishing all the while that Andrew's had never closed. An early breakfast, easy access to parts, knowledge and garage space made for some the most epic tech sessions ever in DFW.

Golden Egg has opened a franchise on FM407 in Bartonville, and we are holding our January 5, 2019 breakfast GTG there on Saturday morning at 8am. Our last one, also held there, seemed to be a good success: the food was good, came out quick, and we were accommodated as a group. Come join us this Saturday if you can.

You don't have to own or drive a 928 to the breakfast, you just need to enjoy the camaraderie of a group of folks committed to one of the greatest GT cars ever produced.

Golden Egg Café
2650 FM 407 suite 165
Bartonville, Texas 76226

Has someone called to triple check they will be ready for us? I'm in of course, it was like the old days when we had a full parking lot of cars.

Wish I could come this time. Last time was a rousing success. I have a bad case of pertussis, and will be mostly horizontal all day Sat.

If anyone wants to make a 56 mile drive and come sing me Soft Kitty - I wouldn't mind....

Enjoy all.

I verified with LauraV and told her I would post it here. She said she would send the email. I took it as the gospel from there.

Sorry you won't make it Doc, but I don't want that stuff anymore either.

KillaV called and made a resv for 20 people. Thank you Killa.

BTW - for future reference. I prefer restaurants that have fancy coffees and we have our own private room, like Andrews had (and Bacon's Bistro has)

Fancy coffees, huh? I will have to remember that. Fancy coffees. Fancy coffees.
I have to ask: what constitutes a fancy coffee? Is coffee not just hot water poured over or through coffee beans/ground coffee beans? Is it flavored differently? Is it in a fancy mug? or poured from a fancy carafe? Is it $5 a cup or more? Does the wait staff bring it to you in a silver pot and insert whatever accoutrements of your desire prior to serving it to you? (ie. sweetener, creamer, whipped cream, honey, raw sugar)
Just curious.

My boss came down from the People's Republic of Chicago a few months ago and dragged me to a Starbucks. Thought he was being impressive I guess. Right, go to Texas, meet the local guy who drives a 3 ton truck, and take him to Starbucks. Can we say - clueless? His order takes about 3 minutes to transcribe, and there was a lot of back and forth. Finally I got to the counter; "small cup of tea please". Sadly, this set off some kind of interrogation by the 'Barista', to which I responded; "small cup of tea" several times. Was good way to kick off my relationship with the new boss. I think he got the message. A few weeks later he called and apologized.

I had a cup of coffee once. It was Dec 1973, and I just got to boot camp at Fort Ord. I can still taste it.

While there was a moderate amount of the Fort I tasted from time to time, in context this thread discussion drift is themed 'coffee'. i.e. crankcase oil, or battery acid, or gun cleaner - take your pick.

I refuse to order coffee other than small, medium, or large. I hate when they attempt to correct me. "That's a vidi-veni-vici, sir" No dammit, that's a large cup of coffee, moron.
There is no way on God's green earth, I'm going to pay extra to order small, medium, and large in a foreign language.
I speak 'Merican, and I order 'Merican, but I drive a 928.

Fancy Coffee. Fancy Coffee Fancy Coffee.LOL
