Default 1983 Euro S - Injector removal/help.

Guys/Girls,

After you last show of talent in getting my non running 928 running, I once again find myself at the mercy of your knowledge.

I'm currently removing the intake system, so I can get to replace all the vaccums and seals etc.

Suring this process I've decided to get the injectors out and have them cleaned professionally.

Anyway, when I remove the injector from the air intake pipe, they are still in the rubber seal in the alamium collar. IS this right? or do they have to be removed? and if so how?

The reason I ask is that they are all solid, except for one which freely turns, which I'm sure can't be right.

Also, after reading threads here it was suggested to put cleaner through via an air hose - this just seems to have blocked them up

Any pictures comments really appreciated, as usual.

Thanks

JC

Make sure you have enough pressure on the air hose. Mine seemed to start spraying at about 55psi. If they never open up, you may be looking at replacing the injector (not expensive).

Unless the rubbers look really good, replace them. Will take a bit of vaseline to get them in. The proper way to clean is a tool to pull the valve on the end open, and blow cleaner backwards through them- find the right place who knows how. Don is right, 55psi is opening pressure.

Thanks guys,

I'll double check my pressure.

As I was saying earlier should the injector rotate in the large rubber mount? or is this bad?

One of them does this but the rest do not.

Replacing the rubbers - are you talking about the small rubbers that slip over the end or the large rubber that sits in the Aluminium sleeve?

Thanks for your help,

JC

P.S. I am a rennlist member, but it still says I'm a user.... odd....

I dont think it matters much whether they turn in the rubber or not - as long it they dont leak air or gas. I am talking of the rubbers inside the alloy thing that screws into the runner here. The other rubber you mention I know not of?

Thanks,

One last question on the subject :

How do you get the injector out of the rubber> (The rubber that sits inside the alloy sleeve)

Thanks
