Default What's the most over-priced replacement part on a 928?

I'm voting for the $500 plastic rear fender liners (each) for 1990's cars.........

The Accelertor quadrant on the side of the intake on the 87 and up models. (“CAD plated”)
Threw mine into a Home Depot bucket with a bunch of other parts and got it “Yellow Zinc” plated.
Probably cost me $1.00 to get it re-plated.
I think Roger Wanted several hundred bucks for it. That was how much the part was at the time.

Sorry Rog, I love you man. But I will admit you told me to get it plated.
Hells to the yes!!

Thx for the advice Rog!!

cheaper to convert to Z06 6 speed than to break a couple of gears.

Behr radiator; lists for $2,356.52. Like Chuck, kudos to Roger. He sold me one when there were only a few left for ~$500. Still in the box waiting for the day.

In-tank fuel pump for '89+ that pretty-much dies like clockwork every 10 years: $995.

I second the S4 plastic tensioner pads. I didn't bother with the static pads as they showed little wear. For some reason buying only the two pads that are pushed against the chain are cheap, but buying all four pads as a kit is nut$$$.

The problem with all the used ones is that the shaft that the bearings ride on is fairly soft and the bearings inside the arms wear deep ridges into the shaft. Installing new bearings onto a worn shaft is a complete waste of time.

I make replacement shafts....

You guys need to own and repair an air cooled 911 for a few years!

Porsche is virtually giving away parts for the 928....

The cruel irony of these things is that the bits that actually do the pumping [i.e. the impeller and the stator] are pissy little pieces of plastic that in real world terms would be hard to justify at more than $1 each part.

Bottom line- owning and running a 928 is an emotive issue not a logical one.

Greg is on the money with this one, check out the video of Matt’s ‘refreshing’....mind blowing. There is of course, a huge between expensive and overpriced.
