18" Phone Dials

Augment will make any size, width or offset. The owner seems like a great guy, I was chatting with him at our PCA spring opener this year. He had a nice display of wheels, absolutely stunning.

I wonder how the 18” D90s would look on the 928 and how the ride would be affected.
I just got my S4 back from the dealership after bring it back to life and the ride on the 16” was surprisingly very comfortable yet firm. When i compare it to my daily drivers such as the Range Rover SC Full size or the Cayenne which are VERY harsh (at least on the road where I am), makes me wonder if it is a good idea to put larger wheels and compromise the ride quality.

If they would do a 9x17" ET 55 version of the 1986 944 Turbo phone dial rear wheel and an 8x17 ET 65 for the front, that would be epic.

I thought I would jump in and give a plug for Dan at Augment. I ordered a set of these phone dials for my 86s3 after coming across this thread earlier in the year. Couldn't be happier with the end product or the ordering process. They did take a few months to make it down to Australia but the end result was worth the wait.
I ended up with the following with the offsets matching a set of 18" Simmons wheels I previously had on the car
Front 18x8 with 59mm offset
Rear 18x9 with 65mm offset (edit original Simmons were18x9 - new Augments 18x10)
Running the following tyres with no issues.
Front: 225x40 R18
Rear: 265x35 R18
This is the only photo I have - car is at the trimmer so I can't take any more for a couple of weeks.
Cheers
Mike

To my eye, the 18" doesn't have enough tire; and I'm sure my *** would agree.

Mike,
Those wheels look amazing. I love the "dish" effect both front and rear.
I'm going through some calculations myself on a potential set of wheels from Augment. I'm curious that you actually run more offset than stock in the back (maybe it's because of the big 265 you have back there!) May I ask, are you running a spacer in the rear? And about how much distance is there between the fender and the tire in the rear? (Do you have rolled fenders?) Are there any rubbing issues anywhere?
Thanks and looks great!!!

RJ,
No rubbing with the new wheels.
Rereading my last post I see that I copied the specs for the Simmons wheels. I actually went to 10" on the back with the same offset. This has had the effect of stretching out the 265x35 tyres and actually pulling them back from the fenders a bit.
I'm not sure if the fender lips have been altered. I don't really have much experience with the 928s. This my first one. From the VIN search I do know that it came with option I415: "Widening of the gauge on the track on the rear axle". Augment did send out a measuring sheet to fill in but I struggled to make accurate measurements. I gave it to a porsche specialist working on the car at the time and it came back with all sorts of errors. This all threw me at first and is the reason I decided to go with the offsets on the wheels that I had.
As I said, the car is at the trimmer for the next couple of weeks. I'll add a few more wheel photos when I get it back.
In the meantime, this is a render that Dan Pye sent through prior to fabrication.
Cheers,
Mike
