Doesn't look like the door panel inserts were done with the seat cloth, or else it's just a plain grey cloth.......looks more like grey leather to me.

My quess is that door inserts are vinyl instead of leather. Op-Art interiors had same cloth in doors. Also Pinstripe with Pinstripe, have seen both S4 and GT with it. Why not in Studio cloths case, can only quess that it didn't look/feel good to factory designers.

Cool

My '87 Cassisrot was found by us, with maroon interior, with the cloth pinstripe inserts. After driving the car these past 26k miles, I am very happy about having those cloth inserts!

I know that this one was originally titled in New Jersey.

I have also gotten quite a few comments about those inserts!

Here are some pics. Check out the door panel inserts... same as seats.

Default group order

Somewhere else on this Board, I saw that several people are interested in ordering leather seat covers for a group discount. How about anyone interested in ordering cloth/vinyl covers as a group for a discount? I want to change to cloth/vinyl and stop worryint about my leather seats wearing or drying out. Anyone else??

Brett:

There were two types of pin stripe: Velours and Flannel. Yours looks like flannel, as the stripes are almost invisible and very close together (aprox 1/4").

Velours had thicker stripes (About 1/16 thick, and wider spacing between the stripes (approx. 5/8")

Your interior looks very beautiful!

Hi Nicole,
Hmm, I didn't know that..... Now, once the snow/ice melts, I'll have to go measure this, IF I remember to do it......
A question has struck me; are all the cloth door inserts made so the stripes slant top-to-rear like mine?
Interesting side note, I found the car off the assembly line, just before mine, another Cassisrot with maroon interior, it had full leather interior, and was a manual. Only differences I could tell....

OT
Did you ever hear from your German parts contact?

Hi Brett:

Interesting about the "next" car to yours. I once found the one after mine - a silver S4 with automatic, just like mine, but with lots less miles. But I lost track of where it went after it was on sale on ebay.

Yes, if I remember correctly, the pin stripes were angled in the door inserts, matching the angle of the front of the insert.

At a first glance I thought you had the Porsche cloth, because I could hardly see the pinstripes in the picture. Then I saw the fine lines, and concluded it had to be the flannel. Never seen that here in the US before, so your car is at the very least pretty rare (and beautiful, too!).

My friend is too busy these days - they had a baby, are trying to sell thier condo and buy a house, etc. He has not touched his own 356 SC Cab project in years. Sorry, but I think that one is going nowhere for the time being.

But you can always try to fax a company by the name of "Freisinger" in Karlsruhe - they bought the whole old stock of Porsche parts from the factory at one point, and might have something for you: 011-49-721-554925 (Fax) and 011-49-721-554926 (Phone). Hope this helps!
