Dual auto power outlet for 928 reco?
What is a good brand of dual power outlet adapter for a 1981 928 with automatic transmission? I want to plug one in to my cigarette lighter outlet so I can power both a GPS and a bluetooth speaker phone adapter for to/fro 3rd Coast. Driving there Friday, so prompt response greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I was looking to eliminate the cable plugged into the lighter from the common dual-outlet plug extensions. I ended up cutting the plug off the cable, easy to justify since it doesn't fit the 928 lighter socket well to begin with. In the ends of the two wires in the cable, I added a male and a female spade connector to each one, so each wire could receive the factory wiring to the lighter, and also connect to the lighter. Think of each one as a little Y. I added a 5A fuse to the positive feed, tuck the wire inside the side of the console with the window switch wires, and the new dual-outlet gizmo rides on the passenger-side tray next to the console, pretty much invisible.
Ove the years I've gotten in the habit of using a two-pin, .093" Molex connector as a standard for power and battery charger connection wiring. For this project, I put a pair (male & female) out close to the double-socket gizmo so I can unplug it and make the wires/connector disappear when the car is on display. Pretty easy stuff, just a little soldering (or crimping in a pinch) and a screwdriver for the side cover, and you are good to go.
I'm not near the car or I'd snap a picture.
I think the dual-outlet thing came from WalMart, and it has a couple USB plugs besides the full lighter sockets.

Many thanks for that reply, but I am about as mechanically/ electronically inept as the worst on this board and incredibly grateful I live near Sean! I'm just looking for a plug in solution I can get from Amazon within 4 days.

Wander thru the auto and rv accessories aisle at the local WalMart. There’s a solution there that won’t get lost on the way to the house, hopefully.

I ended up buying one that fits in a cup holder and used it on my Third Coast trip to power a bluetooth speaker phone and my GPS. It worked great. The devices plug into it vertically, so there is less chance of them coming loose.. $20 on Amazon.
