Cobbled for safety's sake
I figured that I would share an idea of mine for the sake of safety.
Being that I stripped my girl of everything not required by me personally (headlight washers, AC, etc.), in my effort to travel light I found a dual purpose for my spare tire cover. If by chance I get stuck day or night, I will pull out the fluorescent orange panel and prop it up behind the car to catch the attention of and warn fellow motorists.
The top has reflectors for night-time, and the bottom has the bright orange for daytime.

That spare tire cover...was worth a lot of money...no cracks, has the sticker..not really banged up on the edged either. A lot of us really want those in good shape.
What will prop it up? You'll want this maybe 50yds from the car...good idea. Maybe add a flare kit too towards that goal.

Great idea!

Sorry but that was a waste of a good tire cover. You should have used a piece of scrap wood or cardboard for that.

I would have used reflective tape, maybe a big arrow pointing away from the car. Tape would have been less weight than all those reflectors.

If you all look at my past posts, you will see that I offered this cover and many other parts for any honest offer. I thought that the listers would be all over these rare & spare parts. No-one bit and as it was my spare, I cobbled it. I still have my original that has the stickers, is not broken, etc. I had tool lkits in the rear cover (still have a cover) that I see on Ebay for hundreds of dollars. I thought that the listers would be all over these rare parts...
I have never been the one to be concerned about originality in my vehicles. EVERY one of the six motor vehicles I own is modified and every one I ever owned was modified in some way except for two Cadillacs I had long ago.. I figure that when I die, the next guy can worry about restoring it to original if he wants.
The tape is a good idea, but the reflectors all together weigh about 2 ounces max.
As of a waste of a cover, if it went in the garbage, it would be a waste. wood is much heavier and I am utilizing it. It just might prevent an accident!
I was thinking that I would prop it in the open hatch between the bumper and hatch so that the car would immediately be noticed, but placing it upstream of traffic is a great idea.

The FB for sale page...is I think the only useful way to use FB for 928 stuff. FB cant tag knowledge like RL can, but it can tag focused sales.
Sorry we missed it...that was gold...id have bought it in a blink...on the hunt for a -good- cover.

Damn.. you know there's a factory warning triangle for the same purpose right? From memory, not included on USA cars, but I'd expect Roger/Mark to be able to get them.
They tuck in behind the tool panel - the USA "Tourist Delivery" cars also got them, as they're a legal requirement for driving in Europe.

My wife bought me a great Nebo LED worklight with a magnetic base. Throws a ton of light, and if you click it three times it goes to blinking red. I keep it in my road tool kit.
