19" Wheels that work well on a GTS? (correct offsets)
Who has actually run 19" wheels on a GTS (or S4) that are the correct offsets and work well? I know Keith had some on his white GTS, others?
Looking for a Porsche like styling - nothing too oddball. Any factory take-offs that actually fit properly? (e.g. require only spacer changes).
I assume not...?
Performance tire options are going away on 17" wheels - it seems they are dropping off on 18" wheels too. Sweet spot for now may be 19". That is a stretch for a 928 - but I don't want to change to 18"wheels just to be left in the same position in a few more years...

No such thing as correct offsets and Porsche style in 18 inch rims yet alone [those horrible looking] 19 inch rims - urrrgh!
You do not know how spoiled for choice you are when it comes to tyres- trust me on that one! Regarding 18 inch rubber I suppose 19 inch and even 20 inch are becoming more popular on top end new machines but I doubt 18 inch rubber will disappear any time soon. 17 inch and even 16 inch will still be available but the problem will be with oddball sizes that few cars ever used such as the 245x45x16 rubber of the S4 rears- 225x50x16 are still commonly available because of the market segment size.
Sincere apologies to owners of 19 inch rims- cannot stand the sight of them on a 928- they just do not look right IMHO- but each to his own of course. Different kettle of fish on a BMW M3 though!

There was a beautiful red GTS at the 2012 OCIC running 19's that looked great. IIRC you could have special ordered these in correct offsets for the 928. If you like these wheels^^check with Kevin/Hold On. He pulled the same type wheels off his 928 and swapped in diff wheels...they may be for sale? (sorry..do not know Kev's offsets) T

Claws are always a favorite! Also, I'm really liking these BBS Carrera Sport wheels. Both are for the Boxster/Cayman gen 2 and I really like the way the rear wheels fill out the fender.
Carrera Sport (BBS)
Front 8.5x19" ET55 PN: 997.362.156.55 (10.6 kg)
Rear 10x19" ET43 PN: 997.362.160.50 (12.4 kg)

Andrew Olsen has a set of 19" wheels on his 928 that are off a 997. Not sure if he still posts here, but maybe he can chime in and send pictures of how the car looks.

I like the Turbo Twists if they are the original Porsche design. How many people does it take to lift them into position?
On a more cautious note, given they were intended for the rear fitment, I wonder if anyone has ever checked them out as to their suitability to hold the steering/braking loads the fronts experience. We tend to assume that if they are good for one they are good for the other but I wonder....? Guess we will find out soon.

Not when the other two are 11" wide.
I've never seen wheel specifications dictate front or rear only. When you order custom wheels like Fikse, they are not specific front or rear. If you order four matching wheels (like I plan to eventually) they don't stamp two of them "rear only".
If this were a thing, of all companies I would expect Porsche to have that noted somewhere. People have been running rear wheels on the front of Porsche's for decades.
Find a set of 1986 951 phone dail's, most of them are on the front of 911 race cars.

Never saw a space shuttle blow up until January 1986- but sadly it did because someone made some invalid assumptions.
One can assume something and be perfectly correct but on the other hand, knowing for sure that something is correct is a different matter altogether. It would be interesting to know how much different the stresses generated within a wheel are when rear mounted and front mounted on the same vehicle. I would think there will be plenty of margin in the design but for sure I do not know that.
