just want to introduce myself as a new 88 928 owner
about to start restoration of the car so I am sure I will pester the heck out of you all
I have a 911 and 356 as well as a 2015 cayman and a pantera and e type
have the workshop manual

any tips on getting the back hatch open?
the motor works when I disconnect it but the hatch is frozen wont turn w the key

Try pushing down on the hatch area as you turn the key in the tumbler. Check to see if you have different keys, one for ign, one for doors and hatch. It's happened before. Welcome.

Spray lubricant in the keyway and push down as docmirror suggested.

It is possible to unlatch that hatch from inside if everything else fails, but it involves drilling so not your first choice.

I just found some great stuff for stuck lock tumblers, called 3 in 1 lock dry lube. You can find it on Amazon.
