If it has a 10mm head based on the tape and screw picture then it could have come from a door panel, bolt but this would be from an early car.

If the screw is 8mm with a 13 mm head and about 50mm long,

you will need to look at the 4 saddle bolts to see if its missing ,
the saddle holds the fuel tank in place

Photoshop says M6x50. The only bolts on the car in that size are oil filler neck bolts, emergency brake cable mounting bolts (full thread like the one pictured) and a shoulder bolt that holds the control pressure valve in an automatic transmission.

I'm not sure where it came from, but from the pic it might appear the bolt was only seated about 10MM - is the tip cross threaded? Some artifacts I see in the threads kinda support that if I'm looking at the picture right.

It all started with a vasectomy. I had to sit on the couch for a weekend, so I made a list of all the torque specs from the WSM. AO turned it into the awesome printable spreadsheet that people can use in the garage.

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...readsheet.html

Then a couple of years ago another Rennlister made a spreadsheet of all the S4 PET pages.

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...928-parts.html

Then in another fit of OCD I annotated the whole thing with colloquial names so I knew what bolt went where. That took a while. So now it's easy to answer questions like the one above.

That's M8 x 65, with a clean spot where the nut has been sitting for the last 30+ years.

What are the numbers on that tape? mm & cm on one side, but 1 opposite 2, 2 opposite 4 , whats that ? 2-> 1 scale? Not inches, which is what I expected. Looks a bit like the CEB cover panel bolts in my car.

Bolt that holds the emergency brake cables to the rear cross member.

You'll need a 6mm nut to re-install.

No computer. No spreadsheet. No cross reference.

I'm just saying.....

Some of us need spreadsheets, some of us don't. Amateur, pro.

EDIT: Wait, you're calling rear crossmember e-brake bolt because no captive washer. I see what you've done there......

I've used the torque spreadsheet and it's pretty awesome. But I just checked the link for the PET spreadsheet and of course it's 404. Rob (or anyone), do you have a copy or a new link you can post?
