Factory Equipped PDK 928?
I guess I am still reading my Panorama magazine. But under mild protest due to the “Great Pretenders” article from several months ago.
Anyway, there is an article this month about PDK development. It would appear that at least one 928 got one.
The gist, I believe is that the development of a wet clutch was too expensive for the time period to support further mass production?
Anybody heard of this?
Hopefully I haven’t post an Enzo here.

Burning Brakes
I recall a “clutchless automatic” being discussed for a certain GM car back in 89-90 timeframe. Would stand to reason, Porsche was investigating the same.
Even with paddle shifters now on that GM car, it’s still not a PDK. Guess Porsche countined to evolve their program. GM did not. Theirs is still an auto.
All that, never heard or seen reference to this before on the 928. Thanks. For posting.

Yes, that 928 with PDK existed. It was one of four Club Sport prototypes. The PDK-car was used by Hans-Joachim Stuck. The other 3 prototypes were used by Jochen Mass (D), Derek Bell (GB) en Bob Wollek (F).
Only Stuck's car was equipped with PDK. The cars of Mass and Bell also still exist. Wollek's car is missing.
Stuck's PDK-car still exists but is currently equipped with a normal manual gearbox.
The car has been restored a few years ago by Astara in The Netherlands and is now owned by Porsche Centre Gelderland, also in The Netherlands.
You can read a story with references and a lot of pics on our Dutch clubsite Porsche Club 928 Nederland (see: https://tinyurl.com/y8h2vpow). The text is in Dutch, so please use Google Translate.

Race Car
To my knowledge, this car was NEVER fitted with a PDK gearbox, and the sticker was only a joke from Stuck who was racing a 962 PDK at the time.
I have found a test of a PDK equipped 944 Turbo, but never a 928.
Also, I haven't found a mention of a PDK equipped 928 into the Porsche archives, so far. I will let you know if I found something.
