1979 Porsche 928 part locating/tuning questions
Hey fellow Porsche owners.
I became a proud owner of a 1979 928 Porsche 928 recently.
4.5 original engine, 82k on the clock, 5 speed car. Didn't start when purchased.
Had some electrical gremlins which turned out to be some corroded wires. Within a few days, its a runner in my garage.
I am currently working on removing the leaky oil pan gasket, which turned into an Jurassic park style expedition instead of a walk in the park as originally planned.
While I'm done there in the deep jungle of the Porsche cross member and steering rack, I think i will be replacing the rear engine mounts.
The problem is I cannot find a new set of replacement rear engine mounts. Do you guys know of a place that sells them, preferably at a reasonable price?
On a different topic, where can i get a performance header? Is it necessary to even go that route, if you do an X-pipe on the exhaust?
Has anyone done Intake conventions for the early OB models?
Doing a bit of searching from this post, got me nowhere.

Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the tank. Read the new visitor thread at the top of this page for answers to questions you didn't know you had. Preferred parts suppliers are listed within, who can get you the right parts the first time. Also, please post pictures here of your car - outside, inside, and under the hood. We all like to see what you're working with.

Welcome from a fellow '79 owner. I have some spare parts if you're in need of anything in the lighting, vents, complete spider intake, rear console, and some other stuff. If you decide to do any engine mods, like a supercharger, 928 Motorsports is the place for the early cars. I also have a spare cold air intake I built for one of their Powerdyne kits before changing the design and pulling air from the driver's side wheelwell. Having a spare intake is great if you plan to jazz-up your engine compartment with some paint or powdercoat as you can keep working on the car with it running while you work on the intake.
To give you an idea of the type of parts I have, here's my spare spider intake that has been cleaned in my heated, ultrasonic parts washer with aluminum-safe cleaner. This is the one I ran when working on the red one currently on the car in the below picture.
And here's a picture of the cold air intake when I had it installed on my car - includes mounting shield, CF port, silicone elbow, filter canister with filter inside, and maybe the next red elbow, but I may have repurposed this one. Designed to work with 928MS supercharger setup and draws in cooler air from above the radiator instead of air from behind it.
