Wind noise source - door?
I always knew I had some wind noise, but now I have good hearing aids, its more obvious. On the road, over bumps, as the door moves a little, I can the noise change, and it seems to be at the rear. The seals have no visible damage, and there are lines on the door jamb where the seal touches, and they look continuous. I have just gone right around the driver's door with 1" strips of newsprint every couple of inches, shut the door and looked for any strips that were not trapped , showing poor seal contact - nada - all were clamped to some degree, enough to tear the paper if tugged hard. Only area not tackled is the front edge, but the rubber there looks fine as far as can been seen.
One curious observation. PET shows a single rubber seal, but as well as that I have some sort extra hard rubber (feels like its thin and bonded on metal) piece almost all the way around the door edge, as though its clipped on an edge - see below, with a gap at the top rear corner. Is this a normal fitting, or seen elsewhere? There is no sign of it touching the bodywork anywhere.
thanks

smear some DC111 along the rubber and on the metal where the seal contacts ,
this should cure a wind leak also consider tapping the door latch with a hammer in a bit , loosen the bolts half a turn then tap
NOTE its also possible the door latch bolts could have gotten loose and the latch moved.
NOTE if the U shaped part of the seal is damaged put some black RTV in it ,
then tape a a piece of wax paper on it till it dries the paper will make a smooth surface when its peeled off

Thanks - I never considered the latch might have moved, will try a little adjustment. My seal does not show any concave surface - the ribbed surface closest to the camera is the seal - I can lifft it away from the door frame a little, but dont feel a cavity anywhere? Is there a cross section pic anywhere?
Apply DC111 and close, or leave open until it dries/sets? Havent used it before....

DC111 rubbed into the sealing surface then a smear on the metal area that it closes against this will prevent air from getting past the seal
The DC111 is a non setting silicone sealant, it will restore the flexible nature of the rubber seal it also works well on a the hatch seal

Do you have the front vertical windshield seals installed or is there a big gap from the trim to the glass. That will whistle too.
You can do a test on the doors by having someone tape along the door seams with you inside to see if that eliminates the noise. If so, its door related. If not, its something else.

Curiously, at this instant I have an email notification of another answer to this thread, that does NOT appear here! From Petza914.....I tried Jerry's A pillar to screeen gap sealing strip, but they blew straight out of place over 40mph. Another good idea there too.
Will the DC111 stay sticky to the touch? Can I apply and shut the door immediately without issues ?
No comments on the outer hard rubber part clipped on? Is it normal, common ? Not shown on PET .
thanks

Get a tube and smear the stuff on
it will work into the rubber it works good on the outside window lower window door seals keep it off the window
It also is good for any O rings

For the top corners of the windshield I use the closed cell foam with the adhesive backing on one side use a strip about 5 inches long center it tween top side and edge side tuck into the slot then pull the paper clean the glass first
