Default New Rims....maybe? Wide tires on a 928

ANOTHER WHEEL QUESTION.

If your still reading....
How can I make these OZ rims fit an 82 euro, not lowered. There extremely reasonably priced and very available to me.

Front set are 235/35, Rears 305/30.

Tires are Michelin’s
Front:
Bolt pattern: 5-130
Offset: 53mm
Backspacing: 6.81"
Size:19x8.5

Rear:
Bolt Pattern: 5-130
Offset: 50mm
Backspacing: 7.99”
Size: 19x11

The front won’t fit with ET 53 and 8.5” width. The front size is normally the limiting factor.

I have 8.5” and ET 62 and I had to add some camber to get the clearance working.

Unless you can machine 10mm off the mounting face I would forget them.

Buy some 18” Panamera BBS rims, they look similar and are a proven fit.

Those are nice looking rims, but a 305 will not fit with a 50 mm offset.

IMO, I think the bigger rims look much better on any 928 since they fill-out its cavernous wheel wells.

An 18" wheel is the right size to modernize the look on a 928. Anything larger just looks odd, no matter how nice the car or the wheel.

Offsets on those aren't good either - they are clearly a 911 wheel in diameter, width, and offset.

Agree with Stan^^^the earlier cars look better with 17’s and the more futuristic 87 and newer with the 18’s. T

My car us a 79 but the bodywork doesn't look like it since the rear fenders aren't stock and the lighting looks like '87+. The front fenders are stock 79 though and this is what my 18s look like. 8" F & 10" rear.

Default Panamera take-offs on 88S4

This is a pic taken today with 18" rims that I was told were from a Panamera.

They are not the specified offset but seem to drive much like the original 16" manhole covers. I think they update the looks nicely.

Strangely, when I tried them on the 89, they rubbed at the front when turning, and the rear guards needed massaging. On the 88, no issues.

Completely disagree. I've never seen any wheel that looked good on one version of 928 not look good on another. The overall shape of the 928 didn't change, it was just the bumpers. It's not like we are comparing a 911SC to a 996.

My 79 with 18" C-III's, the nose still needed to settle a bit in this photo:

Erik, the racer looks good with those wheels.

Yeah, looks like the front is still an inch too high.

How about a compromise and go with 17s and 18s?

A few folks will vouch for this Cup II setup. 993 winter wheel 8x17 ET 70 with 235/45 in the front and Mille Miglia 10x18 ET 47 with 285/40 out back.

Not sure about the rear fitment on an OB though.

Incidentally, I have this set in my garage, balanced and ready for mounting if you're interested.

87+ front & rear bumper covers are bigger. They sweep around the car down low feeding into the lower valances(?) between the wheels. This makes the later cars appear larger. Add in more weight of the later cars, larger calipers, wheels, etc. To go the other way...how would 15" or 16" dials (if the calipers would fit inside), look on a S4/GT/GTS ? Not era correct and a bit small ? When custom ordering wheels for the 79 I went with 17" Fikse Classics. Felt the proportional wheel size and the classic looks really came into play. I ordered 18" Fikse FM5's for the more modern GTS. Price was not a factor..both sets were the same price. T

I have 18 inch Panamera 10 spoke rims on both of my 928s an 81 and an 89. They look fine on either car.

I have a soft spot for 17 inch rims on a 928 though, the amount of sidewall they have just looks right on these cars and it doesn't make the brake calipers look tiny.
